It's funny, the SpecOps blog, the main one (can't remember name) hinted at this story early last year.
They said that the world was going to get the first Seal Team Six female member, but not in the way that we expected to.
I'm guessing this was the story they were alluding to. I'm guessing the reveal was carefully planned over all of these months.
