Actually it's the opposite; If a friend of yours needed to be "saved from the streets", he needs to be homeless. He needs to hit rock bottom so he can understand that there are consequences for being a fuck-up. He's made plenty of bad decisions in life and does not need to be coddled. You are only extending his trip to the bottom, and encouraging his dependency on society to help him when he needs to help himself.
