Maybe not, the defense need to prove that was exactly what they (and Zimmerman) have been saying it was by showing that the guys mother force fed the media bullshit to allow her to profit off her sons death.
From what I have seen of her on the live feed, she seems like a cold-hearted bitch that doesn't show very much emotion except when she realizes the camera is actually on her.
His father on the other hand, he's very good at expressing his emotions.
