If I drop my keys on my driveway, is my neighbour "trespassing" and "stealing" and "depriving me of the use of my car in case of an emergency" if he grabs them and keeps them at his house until I'm around and he can give them back to me?

That's what the media does nowadays.. THIS MAN WAS TRESPASSING! He STOLE property!!!! etc etc
