I think what a lot of people are doing are simply focusing on business moreso than anything else. Frankly, GFY isn't as conducive to business and efficient time management than other boards and sites.
When compared to other sites/venues, there is an increased time investment to conduct business (weeding through the off-topic stuff, trolls, spammers, etc) versus other sites.
Certainly there is business to be done on GFY, but it has evolved (in my opinion) to be more of a place to stop in occasionally, as time permits, versus a primary daily stop to conduct business operations and network with other professionals. There are other sites exceedingly more efficient for such an agenda than GFY.
I can't speak for anyone else, obviously, but this is my observation on it.
