we have around 30m redirects every day in our network and these are predominantly publishers like you who dont have mobile version and detect mobile in the headers and redirect to us.
weve been running it for nearly two years and our olumes continue to grow so i assume google still has yet to penalise people who redirect the mobile user from a search page.
its a great topic of ddebate as what would you wnat when you search in google - the best content or a site inwhich is optimised for a mobile device - they clearly thing the former.
