There should be a color management menu that allows you to use native windows or the embedded profile. Also make sure your Windows (if indeed you are on a PC) is set to read embedded profiles as well. And of course if your monitor is not calibrated then its all a guess anyway.
If you are on a Mac I have no idea, but it could be a similar situation.

thanks Jay, yes PC and a new issue that cropped up 2 days ago... darned adobe... I'll look and see if the profiles changed... it's okay after saving the files out and opening then again but on first pass I'm not getting a true reading of the exposure or color..
