You know the more I look at it the more it seems That Anderson got out classed and that he was using the taunting in desperation more so than usual. These gifs are from some other MMA forums and where people have pointed out most of this before.
Weidman takes him down 30 seconds into the round. Silva getting taken down is a fairly rare thing. Especially right away.
Silva does some taunting here but it looks as if he was really trying to KO him. Those shots were fast and hard. If Weidman weren't ready for them, he could have been rocked.
Weidman seems to have Silva's number. He seems ready for the clowning. He leads with a weak punch and then follows up with a real one. Did it connect and do some damage? They say in boxing if a man smiles after a punch it means he was really hurt. No matter. The next time Silva does this Weidman follows it with a left hook instead which drops him.
Look at Weidman dodge Silva's attacks. He was basically making a fool of Silva but without the purposeful clowning. Those strikes from Silva weren't sparring strikes either. They were meant to maim and they were fast.
In between rounds Silva was extremely fired up. I've never seen him do that in between rounds before. It could be that he thought Weidman was making a fool of him (and clearly that later happened).
