The evidence shows that Zimmerman is unlikely to be a racist himself. But many of his supporters definitely are racists. You can see that in some of the comments and assumptions where they think Trayvon "was a thug" and that "it doesn't matter because he would have grown up to be a gang banger anyway" or that "he was probably looking to commit a robbery that night". Then there is the way his female friend was treated at the trial. There is a lot of subtle racism like this present around this case. It's very clear.
