Not everyone hit by it is selling porn. In fact with the other policy changes including banning almost every blog with ads there isn't a traditional direct (or non blackhat) way to sell porn on Tumblr. You can't regularly put up affiliate links or you'll get banned soon. Even if you are promoting your own paysite you are at risk of getting banned if you link to your site all the time. You can only be subtle and market indirectly if you expect to stay around for more than a month or two.
I have a few Tumblr blogs that while they have a link or two to some of my adult sites as the legitimate source of the content and for more information aren't so much about milking profit from it as much as they are about an interest. Not everyone affected are blackhats putting out 500 new tumblr splogs a day using 100 rotated proxies so they can sell dating and cams. Not all of us are spammers.
It's their right to do it but it really is censorship in that it prevents the content from being seen by anyone who is not logged in to a tumblr account with safe mode disabled as explained here
http://www.ghacks.net/2013/07/19/how...nts-on-tumblr/ Yahoo did the same thing with Adult Yahoo Groups many years ago. That decision probably cost me $500,000+.
