Same here. It's speculation on my part but I think much of his story was fabricated to reduce the chances of him being charged. Once the lies got out there he was stuck with it unless he wanted to admit to it and end up manning up for some prison time for false statements. I could be wrong on that though. It's just my gut feeling and my analysis.
He probably was getting beat on by Trayvon at some point and he probably did fear for his life. He overreacted and at that time probably wasn't very good under pressure. Some people aren't. I've been in two life threatening situations against attackers with knives and guns. I know two speeds when like that. Calm and detached or totally seeing red and full aggression fight for my life. But once you go through such a situation it tends to change you and you're a bit more ready next time.
