I'm very paranoid about data loss. A typical file on my workstation will eventually (once all offsite backups are rotated in) end up on 5 different disk arrays. Sounds a bit excessive, but the cost of the extra drives pales into insignificance compared to the value of the data. One time when I was upgrading my NAS there was a series of failures and bugs that wiped out all but one of the backups... so at that point I was very glad I'd overengineered my backup solution.
