Seriously, can you present any shred of evidence that they're doing these wholesale layoffs? I see nothing here that gives an indication you aren't just pulling this out of your ass, or were fed shaky info, or whatever.
Also, unpaid interns are pretty much business as usual for many many companies. And sure, it's often just used as a free trial run for a possible future employee hire (rather than commiting resources to someone who may not work out), but to say this somehow indicates they're in dire straits is either disingenuous or shows you're unaware of some common business practices.
I usually like your work, but all this sounds like a big reach unless you can provide backup details...
