I agree with Minte, people can learn a lot at certain companies. I am sure in your case Minte, it is especially huge for them, especially someone that later wants to study engineering or is in the middle of studying it. Lots to learn from experience there.
I do enjoy bringing new engineers into the business. The student we have now is putting together a new powder coat paint line, from start to finish. With a bit of luck and some long hours he should have it up and running early in September. He is doing every single part of it, from researching and meeting with suppliers to purchase the equipment,electrical,ventilation, material handiing,safety.. He really is doing a fine job and when it's up and running his efforts will be obvious, along with adding a half dozen new jobs.

If I had to go to the outside for a consultant, this project probably wouldn't have happened this year.
