I say this every time:
They are using fear of "terrorism" to ratchet up the "War On Drugs" started by Richard Nixon (which is a "war" against our own citizens).

There is a giant multi-billion dollar prison industry that needs new customers.

When I really step back from it and look at the big picture...it all boils down to this in my mind: Why are we having the govt. tell us what we are "allowed" to party on anyway? People have taken recreational drugs since the beginning of time. It's just something that people enjoy doing.
Why should the govt. be arresting people for smoking weed? Or doing a line of coke?

I always hear the govt. approved line of reasoning: Because of all the crime and damage to society that would happen if grown men and women were "allowed" to do what they want.

Well guess what? People do drugs anyway. And people with addictive physiology are going to get addicted no matter what.
And the 99.999% of people without addictive tendencies will continue to use drugs recreationally...just like we do alcohol (not counting the tiny percentage of alcoholics who fall into that category of addictive tendency)

Meanwhile...how many lives are being destroyed by the govt. arresting them for smoking pot and RUINING their lives? They lose their jobs, they lose everything. How in the hell does that NOT hurt our society?

I'm tired of being treated like a child because the vast majority of people are held to the standards of the Lowest Common Denominator (addictive physiology people)

Both weed and prostitution are legal in Amsterdam. Where's all the out of control crime being caused by that?

Scare tactics is what our govt. uses. And the prison industry lobbyists are pushing harder every day to put more citizens in prison.

That's why we have more of our own citizens in jail than any country on the face of the Earth.

I was taught as a child that it was China, and Soviet Union, and North Korea, and Cuba who imprisoned their citizens and took away their freedoms.

And yet WE are the ones with more of our people in jail than any of those "evil" countries.
