as retarded as it may sound in 2013 I was raised on the notion / adage:

In order to be successful one must maintain the image of success at all times.

I don't agree with it per say but I have noticed people like to deal with successful people over non successful people, regardless of the talents or work ethics either may have.

I DID however make a thread 4 or 5 years ago when I got word that my grandmother (who raised me) was in the hospital dying a few towns over, and we needed to travel, stay in a cheap motel eat etc and be there for her for her final days. I held a fire sale, took on a few odd jobs and was able to generate the money needed to spend her last week with her by her side because of it. (This thread was still harder to make though to be honest)
