And what about society as a whole, minimum wage versus crime?
As long as selling crack on the street corner makes 3 times more then flipping burgers there will be crack on the corner. When it gets down to 2 times as much people start weighing the risk more and go flip burgers.
who says it matters? there is nothing unfair about that...

there are drug dealers because there is demand for drugs... imagine that on your street there is demand for 20 dime bag per hour.... then imagine there are 2 drug dealers on your street... so each sells 10 dime bags per hour, for a lets say $30/hr profit...with me so far?

then one of them chooses to work at McDonalds for that $15/hr... so there will only be one drug dealer left on the street...

How many dime bags per hour will the remaining drug dealer sell now? what will be his profit per hour? Hint: his profits will be 2x. (actually likely more than 2x, cause with less competition he will be able to charge higher prices for his goods)

so the guy working at McDonalds will see that the other drug dealer is now scoring $60/hr and will quit because he could make 4x as much, no?

so increasing minimum wage will not decrease drug dealing...
