The society goes so fast that 20 years ago is another world.
But there is a enormous gap between this:

Do you really think that the real opinion of people changes so fast ?
The question is "why this change ?"
I find it weird and incomprehensible.
Here when you ask this question, lgbt activists answer "less religion", but there is a long time that religion is no more popular, so it can't be the answer.

I think the internet has a lot to do with it. For starters it makes it easier for gay rights groups to organize, raise money, communicate etc. Also, I think more and more people are finding out that in reality they likely know and like a gay person be it someone they work with or someone in their family. It has a different affect on people when it is your life.
Take Dick Cheney. For as long as he was in office he was against gay marriage even when his daughter came out. Then he leaves office, sees that his daughter is happy and in a good relationship and suddenly he is fine with it. I think he was likely fine with it all along, he just couldn't say so for political reasons. There are likely a lot of people like that who don't care if gay people get married, but for some reason were never able to see it and now with communication and technology what it is they are able to see that there are a lot of people who feel the same way and it isn't really a big deal.
