For most of the new girls in the business, it's a very short term thing. Many last as little as a matter of a few days, weeks or a few months. And in that time as a cute new girl, they are often heavily booked up back to back to back as there are still quite a few companies and producers that shoot on a regular basis.

Most of them quit pretty quickly anyway for reasons having nothing to do with running out of work. For the minority of attractive models that truly want to sustain their careers as adult performers there's still a decent amount of work to be had if they have the looks and do good scenes, plus as mentioned they can supplement their income doing various things from escorting, stripping, webcamming, music videos and the like. Plus there's always Charlie Sheen and Russell Brand to pick up the slack.
