Blood Pooling At CET

Blood Pooling. If you are like me you probably never even heard this term before but if you test at Cutting Edge Testing I am told that you are a part of it.

Here?s how it works:

Lets say 30 people test today. Those blood samples are then mixed together something like 3 sets of ten, we will call these intermediate samples. These intermediate tests are then combined to create a master sample that contains blood from all 30 draws. ONE test is then run on this sample, if it comes up negative, then all 30 people are presumed to be negative.

If the master sample tests positive then each of the three intermediate samples are tested and then all ten persons in the positive intermediate samples are tested until the positive person is determined.

The obvious reason for this is to save money they can test 30 or however many people for the price of one, even a positive test in this scenario means twelve tests instead of 30.

Now there?s some argument that this methodology isn?t as effective as individual testing but most of what I have read indicates that it is.

The downside is that retesting when its necessary makes it take longer to get results.

The real question that comes to mind is why is CET charging full price for these tests? Clearly the answer is to make money.

Now remember CET doesn?t really do this testing they jus do the draws, the testing is done at CERF Labs. Remember CERF, if not look back in the archives, CET didn?t want to run the Aptima HIV test until MANWIN purchased the Aptima Machine for CERF Labs.

Now you should be putting it together?Manwin owns FSC, FSC insists on clearing everyone through APHSS (Now PASS) and they encourage performers to test at Cutting Edge who send the tests out to CERF where they are pooled and tested.

Wanna bet the FSC is getting a cut of that money? Remember when Fabian said he ?Never heard of CERF?

I asked Sixto at TTS if they do blood pooling and he assured me that they do not nor have they ever. So next time you fork over 150.00 bucks think about this?and ask yourself where the money is REALLY going.

I recommend testing at TTS
