First, there are two factions of Libertarianism . There's the bullshit libertarian political movement, and then there's the purest form of libertarianism which is based on the libertarian philosophy of the Non-aggression principle. Anarcho-capitalism and the libertarian philosophy go hand in hand.

You do realize that the main cause of poverty is the state, right? If not, I'll illustrate it for you..

(1) The drug war results in a large # of non-violent individuals behind bars, many black fathers. This results in broken, single families. A major step towards combating poverty = ending the drug war (which you can thank the state for).

(2) Minimum wage laws. Instead of letting the market dictate pricing, government artificially sets a baseline from which all employers must comply. This results in (a) fewer job opportunities (bad for the poor), (b) inflation (bad for the poor), (c) layoffs (bad for the poor). The poor are most negatively affected with the minimum wage laws.

(3) Welfare. Welfare is abused so much to the point at which an entire culture perpetually survives on it, where families usher in future generations of individuals who'd rather collect checks living close to poverty rather than work.

(4) Taxation. Federal, state, sales, license, etc.. taxes. It equals to around 50% of your income. What would you do with 50% more money? Maybe you'd start a business and hire people (good for those in poverty), maybe you'd be more charitable (good for those in poverty)
