From my experience tiered link building works very good, for example.. start by making some general anchor text backlinks (about 1.000 - 2.000) with a automated tool wait about 1 week then get about 50 -100 homepage backlinks WITH LOW OBL AND LIMITED SPOTS from some old and active sites in your niche with your main keyword as anchor for 1 year (you could buy this type of links for a year or so, be careful on what domains you buy links, most of the sellers have offers with domains that are dead in terms of seo) after this make a good amount of backlinks tier2 and 3 to this domains. You will last long enough in serps for a high competitive keyword (enough to get your money back + profit) with this kind of method, but eventually you will get penalised after a manual check from google dorks or lose rank if you dont continue to do this every 1 or 2 months (the tier2 and 3 backlinks). Try this kind of method and you will see it works, sometimes more than expected.
