A barrel of crude was at $102 yesterday.
A few years ago it was a good rule of thumb to move the decimal point two to the left to approximate the price per litre (at least here in Canada).
$102 = $1.02/litre.
Not anymore.
Our current local price is $1.29/litre.
That's just an obvious fucking gouge.
And now the gas companies are playing a game of price rotation. The jack it up in one city...lower it in another. When people start to grumble, they lower the price in that city and jack it elsewhere. That way they don't piss too many people off for too long and protests can't gain momentum.
I've watched it happen around here constantly.
