Yeah, I don't actually know if it was more or less before, but it sounds about right. With my pre-existing condition and frequent utilization, I opted for a higher premium with no deductible, low total out of pocket and cheap visits. I was previously paying $230 (then went down to $205 in 2013) for a 80/20 plan with a $2k deductible and then a $6k out of pocket limit.
At the end, if I utilize the plan a lot (guaranteed), it will probably end up being on par with the 80/20 with the highest out of pocket, but I like the simplicity of knowing that for X a month, a doctors visit will cost Y, or this prescription will cost Z.
At first the hospital inpatient copay seemed like a turnoff, but then I realized my annual out of pocket maximum is $2k so it doesn't matter. The ER visit and urgent care copays were on par with most plans, but again, only goes up to $2k per year before being 100% covered.
