Thanks for the "good luck"! But I don't think "getting rid of" is the right phrase. Sooner or later I'll run across an adult webmaster with a budget who understands that destination sites need strong, unforgettable brand names. GFY.com itself is one of those strong names that people come to because it's memorable and definitive-looking. Whoever the owner of this forum is ... gets it.
Yes, I know that adult industry types mostly pick throwaway domains. And those domains are typically visited once and then forgotten by visitors. And, of course, I know that people hate the ICM Registry. I'm not a fan either.
But I don't have to deal with adult industry politics because I'm not an adult webmaster. I just have to understand names because names are how I make 100% of my living. Branding works for every other industry online, yet adult webmasters seem to think it's a myth when it comes to them. I know you guys know your shit and make money. Still, somebody here is going to catch on to branding and make even more money.
Frankly, .XXX enables a person to own dictionary words they'd NEVER be able to afford in .COM. Take Pickups.xxx as an example. The .COM would be super-expensive because it's aiming at pickup trucks, whereas the .XXX version means something different simply because of the extension. The average person browsing the internet doesn't care about ICM registry politics. They just want to get to where they're going. And a good name leads to traffic and brand growth.
