Doubt it - nginx already support HLS via the RTMP module. Not sure how elevatedX is supporting HLS, but all HLS is a m3u8 file of directory of video chunks - maybe elevatedX does some crafty play to deliver mp4 chunks to a manifest, but it would be much wiser to offload streaming to say nginx or wowza.
When it comes to HLS streaming, nginx, wowza, and adobe's offering all do the same. Shame red5 didn't add it to their repertoire.
Maybe Andrew can comment how elevatedX performs HLS without these? Personally, I wouldn't like HLS passing through apache as it would hog a process during the streaming.
