Plenty of reasons for that, for example :

1. part of my taxes is used to support church
2. they teach religion in schools, there is a choice to attend ethics classes instead, but in small villages where the majority is religious, the ethics classes are sometimes not available due to low interest, hence all kids are exposed to religious stuff at a young age
3. church officials mess with the politics, trying to influence the way the state works

there is a ton of reasons like this, thats why I care, I am non believer but the church still tries to influence my life and the life of my kids.
