I still think an ending with Walt going into witness protection and the series transitioning into a remake of a Malcolm in the Middle episode would have been very satisfying. If you watch an episode of Malcolm in the Middle with the idea that it's Walt with a new family living a secret life in witness protection that show takes on a whole new flavor.
