Forget about your "favorite winblows programs" GNU is much better for me.

The 3l33t. If you want a dual boot;
1.) Reformat and install Windows first. Problem is you will need NFTS and NFS partitions. So, make 2 partitions if you only have one drive. Only format one partition for windows then use the unformatted partition for LINUX.
2.) Or, start gparted as the root user and create a partition or reformat your current install
in a terminal:
There are lots of tutorials on the internet on how to do this ...
3.) Run Windows in a VM shell.
