Ubuntu is a distribution of Linux based off the Linux kernel. Ubuntu therefor is an operating system such as window's is an operation system. Wine is a 3rd party open source software which is intended to run on supported Linux Operating system's not just Ubuntu.
Therefor your conclusion to why "Ubuntu suck's" is completely void. Pointing blame when you yourself do not have any knowledge of what you decided to get yourself into is only blamable to the person whom decides to take a risk and venture somewhere new.
