His point wasn't completely lost on me. I learned along the way to not hold grudges or allow myself to hate. That has helped me a great deal.
The counterpoint I want to make is that I have always forgiven too easily and it has cost me many years and a lot of blood. I absolutely DO have the right to not forgive people when they do not treat me the way I treat them and I exercise that right VERY easily, now, and I am glad of it.
