Offer something with a visible countdown timer on the page. "This Amazing Video Will Unlock in 8 seconds..." It will improve time on site from those who didn't bounce. Free games and interactive time wasters also work - especially if you offer a per day reward for logging back into them each day.
The more it feels like a game, the less it feels like waiting time on site ;)
