So America will milk it for every penny it's worth and that's exactly why we're decades behind where we should be with renewable energy.

The Germans have some of the most expensive electricity costs in the EU because of how heavily subsidised their green energy policy is. With that said their energy prices will go down in the long term as green technology becomes more efficient and gas and oil prices continue to increase.

Sadly renewable energy still only accounts for around 12% of Germany's power generation

The Germans are an excellent example of people who are thinking long term and I commend them for it. To be fair there is a EU wide directive concerning renewable energy targets but it's no where near good enough!

Just IMO but I think it should be compulsory for every household to be a micro power generator using renewable energy, same goes for food generation through hydroponics or whatever method.

Even if we set a percentage say 20% - 30%, enough to act as a backup source incase the system fails and people can keep the lights on and essential appliances working for a while. We're all far too reliant on a centralised system when it comes to our energy and food needs and as soon as it fails for a short amount of time we're gonna be absolutely fucked!
