They don't do that for two reasons. The main reason is money. Many schools barely have enough money to keep the doors open much less run a gun safety and awareness program and hire enough counselors that they can keep tabs on the kids and help those who show signs of needing help. The second is parents. If you started teaching kids about gun safety many parents would shit their pants.

Never mind the potential liability that it could open the school up to.
