Maybe I'm missing something?

According to info on the CDC's website about 20 million people worldwide get measles. 1 in 20 of those that get it will have it develop into pneumonia and an average of 168,000 people die from it every year. They do say that most of those infections and deaths occur in India so I would imagine it likely has a lot to do with a lack of available healthcare for those that do get really sick from it.
An interesting thing on their site also pointed out the number of cases in the US quadrupled in 2011. I would guess that is likely due to the anti-vaccination movement.
