I'm from Ukraine.
Let me share my thoughts.
2004 - Yuschenko and Co. won the Orange Revolution
Later on there had been events that people were amazed to see: Yanukovitch became a Prime Minister...
It started right there.
I believe it was well played to sort of give people a Revolutionary candidate from the start to then easily change him back to Yanukovitch - how would you explain Yuschenko lives pretty good life nowadays and is not responsible for anything we're told Timoshenko did?
All the years under Yanukovitch the society witnessed the country falling down and down the economy lane while the State authorities gaining more and more influence, wealth and power.
Losing successful business / practice became reality, investors started to run out. And then Yanukovitch decided to tighten business climate in Ukraine so it would become easy to press charges against anyone.
The last hope, the EU association was cut and it became the last drop in the nation's patient behavior . . .
Now people stand against current regime, not exactly for EU.
