I have it, probably a result of me doing music all my life.
The strange thing is that it hasn't affected my hearing, recently checked it turned out to be way above average for a 47yold man.
It got worse over night for me last summer which was frustrating.
But my experience have shown that sleep and what I eat affect it a lot. Bad sleep, to much junk equals worse tinnitus.

Tinnitus is a complicated matter as far as I've understood, tons of things can cause it.
I've heard about people getting better after dentist-treatment! Go figure.
