He never was demonized by the general public until the housing market collapsed causing the banks to fail and the economy to collapse (which ironically was something he DIDN'T and couldn't do...Congress had the hand in all of that in the late 1990's)

Obama's approval ratings are pretty much tied with Bush for the 20th quarter. And unless something drastic happens to change the President's fortunes...he is gonna drop even further.

There were countless protests against Bush and Co when he started trying to make the case for war in Iraq. In fact it was under Bush's admin that some of the protest restrictions were brought on to us where it allowed the govt to set up "approved" protest zones which were usually a block or two away from where ever Bush happened to be.

The people gave Bush support after 9/11 but that started to dwindle pretty fast after the war debs were started for Iraq. Prior to 9/11 Bush was looking to be a lame Duck one term president.
