Being "targeted" doesn't mean they went after them with a vengeance, but instead means they were given extra scrutiny. This is the job of the IRS.

It's useless to explain common logic to him, he just ignores it if it doesn't fit his agenda, he is of the same mentality of truthers, creationist and conspiracy theorists. They all have this need to always be right and no amount of information is ever enough to prove them wrong it has to be a mental issue of some sort.
It's like some sort of mental dyslexia that makes them not capable of understanding basic logic with the ability to distinguish between far fetched ideas and likely reality. Everyone else is always wrong and they are the ones that know the truth and have to continuously tell everyone about it,
