Actually, without seeking the links etc. I can remember that Jesus is mentioned in Roman soldiers letters and correspondence. Not as a mythical all powerful creature, but as a man, making enemies and waves in the power circles.
My take on that figure is similar to what someone wrote above.
Most likely he was mixed race. I suspect his height was above average at the time. He was probably good looking and spoke 5-6 languages. He was most likely exceptionally bright.
His miracles are easily accounted for by his intelligence. Village is sick and dying? Well back then people were dumb as rocks and would shit and piss at the top of a hill and take water from the bottom. One simple change, and wollah, village is not sick anymore.
Simple things like that. Spreading common sense, which at the time was an act of genius.
Anyway, about the bible, many theories revolving it. The original version was supposedly put together by a group of mushroom cultists and took them hundreds of years. They made it with the plan to control masses.
Later it was warped and different religions were morphed into it, stories from different cultures added to it.
