Whoever wrote this should have his writing license revoked and get the "poser of the week" award.
If being discrespectful to authors, whose works in many cases helped to define the pop culture as we know it, is deemed as a way to look "cool", then there's something very, fundamentally wrong.
Of course the OP would never bash these directors if they weren't vastly successful in the first place, maybe there's a little detail he forgot about - what made them succesful are actual people coming to see their movies.
My life would not be the same without Indiana Jones (as a kid), Pulp Fiction (growing up) or Taxi Driver (in my personal Top 5) to name just a few - these are movies that are transcoded into my DNA by now, I bet I'm not the only one.
Everyone is free to have their preferences, however, there should be some common sense applied before expressing them in public.
