These figures include Polish military forces who fought against the German invasion. German leaders did not just pull up in a car and say they are taking over. There was a war and Poland had been expecting it for years.
I am hesitant to include these deaths in a war crimes tally. If you do that then the US and Britian are guilty of crimes for every "insurgent" killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. An insurgent to an invading nation is a freedom fighter to the nation being invaded. You can't have a double standard.
