Possibly but it takes a lot of work. A while back I tried to lay out the business case and no one will sell their sfw content for cheap, and making a vid that gets lots of views is expensive.
The other issue is that you can't really manage whether you're CPM or not and the rates are abysmal. So you may be thinking you'll get .10 per K but you'll wind up with .03 per K. Even the high view folks are always complaining about this.
It seems like youtube is best to get you respect and traffic for other things like itunes, your site, or your work.
