There has been a huge shift in the business and people have fallen off, and more are falling off every month. No doubt about it. But some are holding on, moving forward, and doing well, making money along the way. You just have to decide which group you want to be in and act and plan accordingly. There is still plenty to be made out there, even with paysites.
The way I see it we didn't act collectively to maximize our collective benefit and we've all (on average) suffered for it. While it makes sense to focus on your own business primarily if you don't try to work collectively in some way it's very likely the same result will occur over and over. You may be able to constantly adapt to this but you will still lose over what you could have had under more optimal conditions.
