Unfortunately, NC Governor McCrory worked for Duke Energy and one of his first orders of business upon taking office was to approve rate hikes. As to the current mess, so far it looks as if they are being treated with kid gloves. It will be interesting to see who ends up paying for their mess. My guess is it will be passed along to the customers when they seek further rate hikes in 2015.

TurboAngel probably knows more, as the Dan River isn't too far from her (they are a her I think lol).
Maybe it wasn't the train at Dan River then, but I do know they recently spilled a shitload of coal ash due to a train derailment. Now admittedly I can give a bit of tolerance due to a train derailment unless it was negligence in someway. However if they were polluting that river as well then these guys are fucking intolerable and need to be dealt with,

They also have a levee issue at the Cape Fear plant that is leaking and is also a separate issue from this dumping. These guys are beyond criminal in my opinion and I wouldn't have a second thought about a public flogging of their corporate decision makers.

I've traveled a lot of this country and it pisses me off to no end to see water ways, lakes and the ocean polluted. New England is one of the worst where pollution from the 50s still is present in the lakes, rivers and streams. There is still sediment in most of the rivers left from pollution done 40 to 50 years ago. In so e places you can pick up rocks that will be stained black on the top side and perfectly clean on the bottom where if was protected from the shit dumped in the rivers.

It's fucking sickening what has been done in places throughout this country.
