I don't like CentOS. The software often seems extremely outdated and in the past to get a server working for say a tube site I had to actually manually compile all the packages such as ffmpeg or I could never get all the necessary codecs working right. This was many years ago so maybe it's changed but I still haven't forgotten that shitty experience. I try to avoid CentOS and will not use it. Maybe that will change after a read a few very in depth reviews.

Lol,sound like you never used custom repos like atomic and epel.Even if those two dont have what you need(and so far they always have updated version of everything)you could easily make your own repo with versions you want.
