I don't think the intention was to crash the train. Exploding the door caused the crash. The Asian guy saw snow melting on the wings of a crashed airplane in the valley and figured it was warming up enough for people to survive outdoors.

I think the answer to that is open to interpretation/debate. Perhaps the bear meant that all humans hadn't died - and the train (ark) wasn't entirely necessary. Perhaps the bear simply hibernated somewhere and survived until things began thawing out. Bear could have been a hallucination?

He felt guilty that he didn't sacrifice his arm earlier when everyone else was 'donating' body parts for others to eat. So this was his atonement.
There were a number of aspects to the movie that seemed left to interpretation - could be viewed in various ways.
