The train was moving at a very fast speed. It's still realistic to believe that the arm could have been frozen in 7 minutes.. especially if it had any sweat at all on it. Plus they locked up his circulation with that metal clamp. In real life it might not have been frozen solid, but would definitely be a dead arm at those temps, in need of amputation.
They weren't disagreeing that it wasn't still freezing balls out there.. but that it was a "survivable" freezing balls out there, with the proper winter gear (coats).
Oh, and the other slave kid went into the main engine control.. that's how it was kept going.

The movie was fucking genius. The way it was set up in stages was very clever, the allegory rings true and deep.. after I watched the movie I felt like I just had my brain smacked.. realizing just how "trapped" we all can be at times.. Eating shit processed food, buying into this horse shit of a system.. willing consent of a form of bondage.
It's fucked up.. best movie I've seen in a while.
