Traffic Trading is when you use a trade script like Trade Pulse or Trade Expert to "skim" surfers from your site to a trade partner's site when they click on a thumbnail image, they in return will do the same with their surfer traffic, the idea being that the more sites you trade with then the bigger your site gets.
Traffic Trading is normally only used on TGPs/MGPs or tubes but its an operation fraught with danger for a newbie, you'll need to tread carefully looking for good sites to trade with, there are a lot of cheaters out there who'll gladly swap your good traffic for their dud third worlders or bots.

If you don't have a TGP or a tube then you'll probably be better off looking for hard link trades.
