Been here since birth and never been robbed, shot etc... Most of the shit happens in da hood= west side, south/south east side. Stay outta the hood and use common sense= stay outta da hood, don't walk through alleys at 3 am, etc... and you'll be fine. It's not that bad here just that the bad areas are so bad that it throws the statistics to look like whole city is outta control. Wait till summer those bad areas will skyrocket even more as more people will be hanging outside. I'll take common sense/higher crime rate to live in Chicago over peaceful/boring farmland somewhere else with nothing to do.
